Members of the AP Public Service Commission have blocked the announcement of results of various recruitment exams as a protest against the reforms initiated by the state government abolishing interviews for all posts barring those for Group-I.
The members want the APPSC to conduct interviews for all posts as was the case earlier and to this effect, the results have been withheld even six months after they were held. As per norms, the APPSC has to obtain approvals from majority of the members to announce the results, but most of the eight members are apparently refusing to give their approvals.
Irked by this, scores of candidates agitated in front of APPSC on Monday .
They alleged some members were blocking the results as they wanted to sell the posts in the name of conducting interviews.
Lakhs of candidates are facing hardships due to this delay and have even approached the Chief Minister. However, the government has expressed its helplessness since APPSC is a “Constitutional body“ and it can't enforce any decision or initiate action against its members.
